News from Lee. Beijing.

The China Great Wall, the Summer Palace, The forbidden city and visit of the central heart of the city Wangfujing.Even if you never intend to visit this aera of the world, or are physically or monetarily unable to visit, i hope you can live vicariously through my email.
Tonight we eat at the Alameda market-fresh cuisine. For me baby pumpkin filled with coconut milk–poached shrimp, and filet mignon enhanced with Szechuan peppercorns.
Outside of the Temple of Heaven there is the The Hongqiao market was not what I expected when I first walked in...it's like a local flea market on steroids. There are five floors completely packed with sellers, and some are a lot higher-pressure than others. The top two floors are only jewelers, so they're a lot quieter than the lower three floors. I felt these were the best places to find pearls. Some of the jewelers are very nice, while others aren't as high quality. I was able to find what I was looking for.The lower three floors have just about everything else imaginable.

Shopping at the market is a blast! Anything that's not anchored to the floor is for sale, and all prices are negotiable.

Good night.
Lee.
